AUTUMN IN THE
VALLEYOF THE AMBRÓZ
In the north of the province of Cáceres is the Ambroz Valley, one of the corners of Extremadura of greater scenic beauty, dotted with towns with both charm and history. This natural region is crossed by the river that gives it its name, which covers a gallery forest composed of poplars and alders, which are lush oak and chestnut trees in the middle, and pine and birch in the highest, forming a chromatic range that together with the ruggedness of its relief, forms an idyllic landscape.
Any date of the year is good to visit, although autumn is probably one of the best, when the decrease of days and the change of temperature condition the loss of chlorophyll in the mature leaves of the trees, showing us then all its warm tones. It is at this time when oaks and chestnuts turn orange, the birches are dyed an intense yellow and the maples rub red, at the same time that innumerable and colorful mushrooms, very appreciated in the local gastronomy, emerge from the soil recovering the lost lustrousness during the summer.
In the course of the route, focused on the contemplation and interpretation of the autumnal landscapes, we will visit several areas of the valley, making a series of stops to appreciate the different forest species that compose it. However, during the tour we will cross with many species of animals, mainly birds, but without ruling out other groups such as amphibians or mammals, highlighting the roe deer.
