At the beginning of November the zeal of one of the most representative animals of the Natural Park of the Sierra de Gredos, the mountain goat, begins. During this period the males approach the zones with the presence of females, beginning the period of struggles to establish their hierarchies. Generally the males that engage in confrontations tend to be adults with more than 8 years of age, being relegated the youngest specimens to woo the females with little chance of success. It is during this period, mainly between the months of November and December, when the males of the populations of Gredos will pop their powerful horns in their eagerness to demonstrate their physical superiority in front of other males.
Once this phase is over, the procession will begin, that is when we will be able to observe groups of males chasing some of the females, literally forming rows, in which the oldest specimens will usually be the first, before the female finally chooses one of the suitors.
During our visit, focused on observing the heat of this Iberian endemism, we will visit some of the best areas with the presence of the species in the Sierra de Gredos. In addition, during the same, it is possible to observe various species of birds, among which there will be plenty of griffon vultures, crows, solitary rockers, rabilargas warblers or aquatic blackbirds, among many others.
